The Curiosity to Learn

I’m Luca Bertolli, author of the fantasy saga The Chronicles of Myoo. Before turning to fiction, I spent much of my professional life working in design, technology, and communications.

On a Journey
Multimedia CD and Graphic Materials

It All Started at School

Recognizing my abilities, my desktop publishing teacher began giving me new software to learn and asking me to write manuals for it.

In my final year, he asked me to create a multimedia CD featuring student profiles for prospective employers. I used Macromedia Director to build a presentation rich in graphics.

While I was doing my military service, a company contacted me after seeing that CD. When they discovered I had created it, they wanted to meet me right away, but I had to wait until I was discharged. I gave them the exact date. That day, just after I got home, the phone rang. It was them. That was how my professional career began.

A Creative Journey

Thirty years have passed since then. During that time, I have worked in graphic design, communications, and publishing, creating images, websites, publications, and comics.

I have also written articles and technical manuals, discovering the pleasure of working with words. Explaining how a program works is different from telling a story, but both call for the ability to communicate.

Graphic design has been the common thread throughout my career, bringing together technical skills and creativity. It is experience I now draw on in my work as a writer.

From Words to Images

When I write a novel, my work does not end with the last page. Writing is just one part of the journey that turns a story into a book.

I enjoy handling every aspect of its creation myself: from designing the cover and choosing the graphic elements to laying out the pages and preparing the print and digital editions. Every detail helps give shape to the world I have imagined.

It is a way to bring my passions together in a single project, following every stage from the first idea to the book in the reader’s hands.
