The kurai is one of the most dangerous creatures ever to emerge in the history of Myoo. It does not belong to this world, but hails from Kuraikoku, a dark dimension that exists apart from Myoo. Its arrival sealed the fate of the village of Kazumori, leaving it forever shrouded in mist, frost, and silence.
Years before the creature appeared, a group of dark Mages from the kingdoms of Jin, Rin, and Retsu set out to obtain a weapon powerful enough to overthrow the Empire of Myoo and defeat Emperor Eien. In pursuit of that ambition, they broke an ancient seal and tore open a rift to another dimension, summoning a creature no one could ever hope to control.
The instant it crossed into Myoo, the kurai turned on its own summoners. Several of the Mages were slain, their souls devoured by the creature, while the few who survived realized the true cost of their mistake far too late. Unable to destroy it, they chose to imprison it within the village of Kazumori, raising powerful magical barriers and sacrificing the entire population.
The villagers, unaware of what was unfolding around them, vanished one by one. Only a handful escaped. The souls of the dead became trapped within the kurai, feeding both its power and its insatiable hunger.
Nothing in Myoo resembles the creature. The kurai is a featureless mass of living darkness, forged from shadow and magic. It knows neither mercy nor compassion. It exists for one purpose alone: to destroy and devour every living thing in its path.
Despite its overwhelming power, the kurai shuns intense light and fire, choosing instead to lurk within the shadows and the endless mist that blankets Kazumori. There it waits with endless patience for someone to cross the village's borders.
Born beyond the boundaries of Myoo, the kurai remains one of the darkest threats the world has ever known.
