The Shuryoku is one of the most feared creatures in Myoo, a venomous serpent that inhabits dense forests, marshlands, and the most remote regions of the continent. Unlike many predators, it does not rely on size or brute strength to survive. Its deadliest weapons are its ability to strike unseen and its lethal venom.
The Shuryoku is a long, slender serpent with a lithe, muscular body. Its obsidian-black scales shimmer with violet hues in the light, giving it an appearance that is as mesmerizing as it is unsettling. Its narrow yellow eyes gleam in the darkness, allowing it to detect movement and track prey with ease, even at night.
A solitary and secretive creature, it generally avoids contact with humans. It spends much of its life concealed among dense vegetation or beneath the roots of ancient trees, patiently waiting for the right moment to move. As a result, sightings are rare and often come only when it is already too late to retreat.
The Shuryoku does not attack without cause. However, when it feels threatened or senses danger within its territory, it strikes with startling speed. Its attacks are silent, precise, and almost impossible to anticipate.
The true danger of this creature lies in its venom. Its thin, razor-sharp fangs deliver a powerful toxin that takes effect within moments. Victims first feel a spreading chill throughout their bodies, followed by a gradual loss of muscle control. In the most severe cases, internal bleeding and respiratory paralysis soon follow.
No known antidote can neutralize Shuryoku venom. Some Mage Healers, however, can counter its effects—provided they intervene immediately after the bite.
Over the centuries, the Shuryoku has become the subject of countless legends. Many travelers consider it one of the most dangerous creatures in the wild lands of Myoo, and its name is often spoken with equal measures of respect and fear.
