Mages are the most common practitioners of magic throughout the lands of Myoo. Unlike members of specialized orders, they devote their training to mastering a wide range of magical disciplines, building a broad understanding of the arcane arts rather than focusing on a single field.
No two Mages follow exactly the same path. Some dedicate themselves to perfecting a particular branch of magic, becoming masters of specialized techniques, while others pursue a broader education, valuing versatility and experience over specialization.
Throughout Myoo's history, countless Mages have possessed extraordinary power. During the Fourth Age, when magic still existed in its full strength, some performed feats that would be considered impossible today. As the Ages passed, however, the flow of magic gradually weakened, reducing the potential of each successive generation.
By the Ninth Age, Zaio was widely recognized as the greatest First Mage of his time. Though he lived in an era when magic had faded considerably from its former glory, his mastery made him a benchmark for Mages throughout Myoo and one of the finest practitioners of the magical arts of his generation.
